Boot Düsseldorf 2023 - our impressions
We were during the boot Düsseldorf 2023 in search of the latest electric motors and announcements for the year 2023. What caught our eye and what novelties there are, you can see best in the video.
In the short article have of course again listed all stations. Have fun!

Torqeedo - The Future is Orange
Torqeedo showed the first prototype from 2005! Now 18 years later, the market leader has a wide range of electric boat motors in every power range. A great development, but also cost a lot of time, money and setbacks.
Presented was a foil-wrapped motor - probably outboard - which should appear this year. Info there was not, however, it looked like a slightly more powerful engine from 10 kW in a new modern design. We are curious!
Impacd Boats from the 3D Printer
Impacd Boats from the Netherlands (Woudsend) prints modern and aesthetic sloops from recycled plastic using 3D printers. In our view, the design is temporally chic and the material feels surprisingly valuable and grippy.
In the Netherlands, Impacd could win the "Start-Up of the Year 2021" award. Of course, Impacd uses the electric inboards and outboards from Propel.
Honda electric motor for boat
Without any advance notice, Honda showed a concept for an electric outboard. Based on the appearance probably in the range of 1 kW power - without integrated battery. The design is very aesthetic and sleek, especially under water is so little resistance than any other outboard!
The batteries are external and can also be used in other areas. Not every vehicle or consumer needs its own battery. You can take the same battery for the electric bike, the lawn mower or the camping trip. This makes the drive more affordable and sustainable. Great approach!
Mercury Avator 7.5e
The Avator electric motors from Mercury all make an enormously professional and high-quality impression. This is an appropriate motor for a market leader. But what really knocked my socks off is the design. It just all seems planned and perfected down to the smallest detail. There are no cables, a loose tiller or a small calculator display here. Honest opinion: it is so far by far the best e-motor with integrated battery I've ever seen.
This results, however, also in a decent price. And that is the biggest drawback from my point of view. The engine is therefore certainly not suitable for every wallet. The weight is also much heavier compared to other e-motors with integrated battery. However, you can disassemble the motor into 3 parts, thereby the Avator is still transportable.
We certainly still bring test drives including possible range and driving time. Subscribe for it best our YouTube channel.

MITEK - affordable electric motors from Italy
The first time were also the electric motors of MITEK on the boot Düsseldorf to see. The company Mitek from Italy relies on the standard housing of Parsun and a thus for the user as favorable a price as possible.
The engines are water-cooled, robust and quite suitable for gliding, since the engine sits above under the hood. The gearbox is relatively noisy compared to other manufacturers - but not dramatically so when planing due to wind and waves.
Also, the patented Revolve folding system for dinghies was on display. The engine is folded and so the entire system fits easily into the garage of the yacht. Fits of course perfectly to the owners in Italy! ;-)
Other new manufacturers / products
From Parsun an electric outboard has appeared, which looks surprisingly similar to the ePropulsion Spirit 1.0 PLUS. However, this one has a slightly larger battery and a bit more power. The price is quite similar, but in some places the motor looks quite clunky.
The company GardaSol has exhibited electric drives and boats for rent - the motors are also available in different sizes and strengths. The 10 kW motor is especially suitable for push boats and makes a solid impression at first sight.
The company evoy has presented a new electric outboard with 300 hp (222 kW). The engine is bigger than us (6 feet+) and looks really brutal.
The company Dewjet from Turkey showed after 3 years of development work an outboard with 2 counter-rotating propellers. This causes - as with the foil boats from Candela - less turbulence and a more efficient form of locomotion.
Carbon boat with only 89 kg!
The best comes at the end: The company KAEBON from Munich presented for the first time at boot Düsseldorf the carbon electric boat weighing only 89 kg. KAEBON, by the way, stands for Karbon Elektric Boat - and the boats are as perfect to look at as the name.
With the Torqeedo Cruise 12.0 R, the boat gets up to 30 km/h and has very efficient consumption for the speed. From our point of view, many more boat manufacturers should take this pioneering path and design boats as light as possible so that they are also suitable for electric driving.
