Installation note
The battery is prepared in such a way that you only need to unscrew the cover. Then connect a cable to the battery and close the cover again. It's very simple, instructions are included.
SIB Power 48V 210Ah sodium battery Application
-
Low weight of 95 kg compared to a lead/AGM battery saves 50-70% weight. This makes installation easier and reduces consumption.
-
The sodium battery can be used in all positions, does not leak and does not contain acid.
-
100% maintenance-free: You do not need to regularly maintain the batteries. During the winter, it is best to charge the battery to around ~60-70% and occasionally check the charge level.
-
Long service life (6 months+) is not a problem. Deep discharge is not possible, even after years of storage in a discharged state, the salt battery can be reactivated.
-
Charging with up to 100 A possible.
Technology of the SIB Power 48V 210Ah sodium battery
-
A parallel connection of up to 5 batteries is easily possible. You can start with one battery and add more later.
-
The 210 Ah salt battery can be discharged with up to 210 A.
-
The battery can be discharged up to 100%. No buffer needs to be considered, as deep discharge is not a danger for salt batteries.
-
Expected lifespan of 10 to 15 years with 4,000 or more discharge cycles - afterwards, the batteries typically still have a residual capacity of 80%.
-
Maximum and recommended charging voltage: 59.25 V
-
Including 250A fuse. Additional charging port via 120A Anderson plug
-
The salt batteries are insensitive to low temperatures. Charging down to -20°C is easily possible, discharging down to -30°C is also not a problem.
Safety of SIB batteries
-
High safety due to the fact that sodium-ion batteries (SIB) are non-flammable. Explosions are also not possible.
-
IP65 protected against water and dust. Ideal for storage on the boat. Touch-safe!
-
5-year manufacturer's warranty. CE certificate
-
Integrated Battery Management System (BMS) for monitoring the batteries. No overcharging, overvoltage or overheating possible.
-
With Bluetooth & display for monitoring. RS485 connection for inverters (also suitable as a solar storage)
Advantages and disadvantages of sodium-ion batteries
-
Thermal stability: There is no risk of overheating and fires - the salt batteries are much safer than lithium batteries.
-
Environmental friendliness / availability of raw materials: Sodium is abundant on Earth and can be mined much more environmentally friendly.
-
Durability and Usage: Salt batteries cannot be deeply discharged and are therefore much less prone to errors than lithium batteries. In addition, the sodium batteries can even be charged up to -20°C and discharged up to -30°C!
-
Lower energy density: therefore the cells are slightly larger and heavier than in lithium batteries. On the boat, this usually plays a subordinate role in displacement boats.
Sodium-ion batteries are a promising alternative to lithium-ion batteries, especially in terms of sustainability and safety. However, their lower energy density currently limits their applications - at least for electric cars. On the other hand, salt batteries can already be used for boats.
