Solid State Battery 12V 300Ah application

  • Low weight of 27 kg, compared to a lead/AGM battery you save 70-80% in weight. This makes installation easier and reduces consumption. Li-NMC is of course a bit lighter

  • The solid-state battery can be used in any position, does not leak, and contains no acid/liquid.

  • 100% maintenance-free: You do not need to regularly maintain the batteries. Over the winter, it is best to charge the battery to around ~60-70% and check the charge level from time to time.

  • Charging with up to 120 A possible.

  • Over 90% capacity when the battery is discharged at -20°C.

  • The battery can be discharged up to 100%.

  • Expected lifespan of 10 to 15 years with 6,000 or more discharge cycles – afterwards, the batteries usually still have sufficient remaining capacity

  • Maximum and recommended charging voltage: 57.6 V

  • The solid-state battery is somewhat less sensitive to low temperatures. Discharging down to -20°C is possible, but charging should still be done at >0°C.

Cell balancing:

Stricter standard for cell matching, the difference in internal resistance is 0.1mΩ and the voltage is 5mV.

Automatic cell welding:

The cells are assembled using automatic welding machines to ensure reliability and consistency of quality.

Advantages and disadvantages of solid state batteries

  • Higher energy density: SSBs potentially offer a higher energy density compared to conventional lithium-ion batteries. This is clearly visible in the image. For you, this means: less weight and more range

  • Safety: Even if a nail is driven into the battery, nothing happens. By using solid electrolytes, the risk of fires and explosions is significantly reduced. LiFePO4 and Li-NMC can burn due to the liquid electrolyte.

  • Cycles and lifespan: Solid state batteries have up to 3,000 cycles at 100% discharge and even more than 6,000 cycles at 80% depth of discharge. That is easily 30% more than LiFePO4 and 4x more than NMC.

  • Slightly higher costs: Since millions of batteries are not yet being produced, prices are somewhat higher. For the extra cost, you mainly get more safety and charge cycles, so from our point of view, this disadvantage is not that relevant.

Charge Cycles of Solid State Batteries

Solid state batteries have significantly higher charge cycles than LiFePO4 or Li-NMC batteries. Even with a 100% discharge, 4,000 cycles are still possible. With an 80% discharge, it's already 8,000 cycles, and with only 50% discharge, even 16,000 cycles!

Self-Discharge of Solid State Batteries

The self-discharge of solid state batteries depends on the ambient temperature. At 25°C, they lose about 15% charge within 12 months, but at 55°C, it's already 30%.

In general, solid state batteries are not very sensitive to high or low temperatures. From 25°C, solid state batteries have almost 100% available capacity. At 0°C, the capacity is still 99.25%, and at -20°C, only 97.5%.
