The Bow Thruster Tunnel Set 50.0 from Rim Drive Technology is an especially powerful electric bow thruster system for large boats, yachts, and professional maritime applications. With a power output of 50.0 kW and an impressive static thrust of up to 660 kgf, the system offers maximum control and precise maneuverability—even under extreme conditions.
Thanks to the integrated tunnel construction, optimal water flow is achieved, significantly improving the efficiency and responsiveness of the drive system. The tunnel, with a diameter of 355.6 mm, ensures stable integration into the ship's hull and reliably protects the drive even during demanding operations.

The IP68 protection class makes the motor completely waterproof and resistant to saltwater. Due to the innovative rim-drive technology with only one rotating component, the system operates with particularly low maintenance, efficiently, and quietly. The robust stainless steel construction also ensures a long service life and high durability in maritime use.

Our standard bow thruster is the quietest in its class. Thanks to its compact design, it can be installed further forward in the bow, which allows for better control – especially in wind or current.

This electric bow motor can also be used as a stern thruster. It is designed for continuous operation and does not require wear-prone components such as shaft seals or gaskets.

A bow thruster – in German, Bugstrahlruder – is a transverse thruster located at the front of a boat. It generates lateral thrust and allows the bow (the front of the boat) to be moved precisely to the left or right. This is especially helpful when:
