3D scanning of ships and yachts
3D scanning plays a crucial role in the ship and yacht industry as it allows for precise digital capture of ships and their components.
This technology is used in various phases of the design, construction, modernization, and repair of ships and yachts, increasing efficiency in shipyards, improving planning accuracy, and minimizing assembly errors, leading to significant time and cost savings.
3D scanning of ships and yachts
3D scanning enables precise capture of existing ships and yachts, facilitating the integration of new systems such as mechanical, electrical, or HVAC installations.
Scanning allows for the creation of digital models, even when no technical drawings are available – particularly useful for older ships.
Accurate geometric data enables the precise adaptation of new equipment elements such as furniture, fittings, or new structures.
3D models of hulls allow for hydrodynamic simulations that contribute to improving fuel efficiency and performance of ships.
3D scanning helps in detecting deformations, damages, and material wear, allowing for early diagnosis of structural problems and better maintenance planning.
Through precise 3D models, components can be accurately planned and prefabricated before being installed on board, reducing costs and construction times.
3D scanning enables detailed documentation and reproduction of historical ships and yachts to preserve their original appearance.
Advantages of 3D scanning
3D scanning captures the physical world around us in a digital format.
Can capture details that may escape the human eye.
Especially in comparison to conventional measurement methods.
Can be used for objects of all sizes and shapes.
Enables easy sharing, modification, and duplication.
3D scanning in buildings
3D scanning is increasingly used in architecture and construction, as it allows for precise reproduction of existing objects and facilitates the processes of planning, renovation, and infrastructure management.
Thanks to laser scanning technology and photogrammetry, accurate models of buildings, terrain, and facilities can be created quickly, enabling architects and engineers to analyze existing structures faster and more precisely, plan new projects, and manage objects efficiently. This leads to time savings, cost reduction, and a minimization of the risk of construction errors.
3D scanning of buildings
3D scanning enables the creation of detailed documentation of existing structures, which is particularly advantageous in the restoration of historical buildings without existing technical plans.
The captured data allows for the creation of digital models of buildings and their surroundings, facilitating the planning of new construction projects and urban planning analyses.
3D scanning allows for the comparison of actual construction progress with the original plans, the detection of construction errors, and the quick correction of deviations.
The integration of 3D scanning with BIM systems enables precise building management and facilitates both the planning phase and later operation.
3D models help to detect deformations in existing buildings and bridges, which is crucial for assessing stability and planning renovation measures.
3D scanning allows for precise mapping of terrain, which is particularly useful in geodesy and in the planning of road and rail infrastructure.
How does a 3D scan order proceed?
-
1.
No-obligation initial consultation and offer
In the first step, we estimate how extensive the scan should be. Important for this is the size of the object and how detailed the 3D scan should be, and whether it should be in color, for example.
-
2.
3D Scan on site
One of our trained engineers will come to you with the 3D scanner and perform the scan on site. The engineer needs access to the premises. Depending on the scope of the scan and how many scans need to be done, a scan can be completed within 1 to 2 days.
-
3.
Creation of point cloud
Subsequently, all scans are merged and bundled into a single file. During the preparation of the offer, it will already be discussed with you which file format you need. In general, the technical implementation and polishing of the scan takes significantly longer than the scan itself.
-
4.
Further support for the project
This offer is optional. Our design office and the construction office can also take over the design of boat hulls and piping systems.

What is 3D scanning?
3D scanning - precise and fast measurement of objects.
3D scanning has revolutionized various industries, bridging the gap between the physical and digital worlds.
3D scanning is a technology that allows for precise digital capture of the shape and structure of objects. This process is based on capturing surface data with special scanners that record the geometry of the object in the form of a point cloud.
These data are then processed and can be used to create 3D models, analyses, reverse engineering, or 3D printing. 3D scanning is widely used in industry, medicine, archaeology, as well as in art and entertainment, enabling a detailed digital representation of the real world.
