Elco Features
Elco specializes in outboard motors between 3 and 26 kW and inboard motors in the power range of 3 to 150 kW. The company from the USA develops and manufactures electric motors in the United States of America at a good price.
Elco Motoryachts mainly focuses on light planing boats in the leisure sector, but the inboard motors are also designed for professional use with large boats or ships.
The most popular Elco motors
Elco outboard motor
The special features of Elco are diverse: the motors are produced in the USA and then distributed throughout Europe via distributors. Despite the supply chain, the motors are comparatively very affordable.
All outboard motors are water-cooled and run on a permanent magnet-excited AC electric motor with a high efficiency of ~90%. (PMAC) Optionally, there is a power trim & tilt for easy operation.
The control is done with remote control or tiller on the motor. At Elco, all battery systems available on the market can be integrated.

Elco electric inboard motor
The Elco inboard propulsion system uses reliable AC drives that are powerful and easy to maintain. The motors can have a lifespan of up to 50,000 hours.
Whether as a propulsion system for a new build or the retrofitting of a boat with a conventional drive - Elco inboards can be installed relatively easily.
Elco inboards are suitable for sailboats, barges, trawlers, catamarans, workboats, and water taxis with a size between 15 and 120 feet that were previously powered by a diesel engine ranging from 2 hp to 200 hp.

Elco batteries
Elco does not offer its own batteries and is compatible with batteries with a suitable voltage. This allows for simple integration and the use of inexpensive or batteries that fit exactly into the installation space.
It is important to have a separate battery monitoring system using a shunt, Bluetooth app, or, even better, integration into a Victron Cerbo GX or, even more advanced, using NMEA 2000 into the existing onboard system.
