Propel - THE innovation in 2022
Propel has presented for the first time in November 2021 the new and first series of electric motors at the B2B boat show MetsTrade in Amsterdam. Presented was an outboard and an inboard in a timeless and modern design.
The team of Propel has invested many years of work in the development of the engines. Propel is backed by the British parent company Saietta Group. The motors are also used for electric motorcycles, scooters and buses. The motors are strikingly small, with even controllers and cooling integrated into the housing.

Propel D1 inboard offers high security
-
Powerful controller from the automotive sector.
-
2-circuit cooling. The Propel motors are therefore suitable for high and long loads. Closed glycol cooling circuit between heat exchanger and motor/controller. External cooling circuit between heat exchanger and fuselage.
-
A 12 V DC-DC converter is already integrated.
-
Safe low voltage of 48 V.
-
Comparable with a conventional 25 hp inboard.
. -
Motor is waterproof to IP67, the controller to IP65.
Propel - the Apple of the boating industry
-
100% maintenance free. No wear and tear. High quality and durable material.
-
The displays can only show drive time and remaining if batteries from Propel are also used or the batteries have a CAN-BUS interface. Otherwise, a SmartShunt or BMV also goes to determine the remaining capacity.
. -
The display is easy to read even in sunlight.
-
The motor can be operated continuously forward and backward. The scope of delivery of the display also includes a key switch and a main switch.
. -
There is a choice of side control and soon a throttle for top mounting. The components are connected by cable.
-
Absolutely quiet. No noise, no obstructed transmission.
-
Very modern and sleek design. Also, the operation of the drive lever and display is very intuitive.
.
Propel D1 - technical features
-
The Propel batteries provide direct communication (CAN-BUS) between the components. Thus, the remaining capacity can be displayed.
-
Ideal condition for installation: very small and compact. Controller and cooling already integrated in the housing.
. -
Function fundamentally with batteries from different manufacturers and technologies.
-
Direct drive with enormously high efficiency. Enormous efficiency.
-
Torque of 60 Nm. Up to 105 Nm peak. Speed of up to 1440 rpm.
The manufacturer Propel
Propel stands for a high level of innovation in the field of electric motor development. Propel offers propulsion systems for boats with inboard or outboard motors. The propulsion systems can be used in various boats and ships on lakes, rivers and seas.
With the help of high-end computer simulations, Propel was able to develop the most efficient motor on the market. To do this, Propel purchased all existing drives and tested them themselves and performed flow analyses. Propel was able to find an optimal balance between propeller size and engine performance, as well as get high torque out of it.
More info about Propel electric motors
With Propel, the motor and electronic components are cooled by a closed cooling circuit. This means that virtually no maintenance is required and you can maintain maximum performance over an extended period of time.
Air-cooled motors go out when overheated or poorly ventilated. Not so the water-cooled engines. Normally, water cooled motors are much more expensive. Propel has managed to develop motors with water cooling that can keep up with motors without cooling in terms of price.
